Pocket Aces in Pot Limit Omaha Games

What are the odds of getting pocket aces in Omaha or Pot Limit Omaha (PLO).

The odds of being dealt two aces in an Omaha game are about six times greater than the odds of being dealt aces in a regular holdem game, however, you have 4 cards in your hand when you’re playing Omaha, not just the two, so there’s more to take into consideration.

For aces to even be a part of a playable hand, you need to only be looking for hole cards that consist of 2, not three or 4 aces.

Odds of getting at least, but no more than 2 aces in PLO – 2.4999538%.

In all honesty though, really, what we really want to know isn’t so much how often we can expect to be dealt ‘naked aces’ what we really wanna know is… Are aces a good hand in PLO games?

Aces are of course a good hand in any poker game, and if you have the chance to 3 or 4 bet them preflop, and get all your money in, shove it in there.

If you can’t get all your money in there though, and you don’t have a redraw, something like ten jack suited to go with those bullets, you face the chance that you’re going in with a hand that’s slightly better than 50% if the second two cards are suited connectors, and less than 50% if they’re junk.

Might just want to limp, or call here, and not bet it up. Omaha Poker is largely a ‘post flop’ game. So you’re not golden with just a couple of aces, and no draw.
